Welcome to Career and Technology Education
Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Career and Technology Education is to offer a variety of programs that are designed to prepare students to be successful in the career field of their choosing. Office members specialize in different career fields and ensure that the programs offered by the Howard County Public School System reflect the most up-to-date information and provide the academic background and hands-on experience necessary for success beyond high school.
Graduation Pathways
In addition to the graduation requirements in specific content areas, students must also complete one or the following options:
Option #1 - World Language OR American Sign Language
- 2 credits in World Language OR
- 2 credits in American Sign Language
Option #2 – Advanced Technology Education Sequence
- 2 credits in an approved Technology Education Sequence

- 4 credits in Career Research and Development (CRD)

Career Academy Summer Camps
The Career Academies Summer Camps explores career areas offered through the Career Academies high school program, including Biotechnology and Health Services, Visual Communications, Automotive Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Career Research, Finance, and Culinary Arts. Howard County Public School System teachers will staff the camp.
Location: All camps will be located at the ARL.
Dates: June 20-24, June 27-July 1
Hours: 8 am - noon
