Plecostomus, "Pleco", are suckermouth catfish and they are in the Loricariidae family. Plecos are good first fish. These fish get big, so don't keep them in a small tank. Some suckermouths stay small. For example, Clown Plecos only grow to about 4 inches. In each species of Plecos the males have larger bristles, especially when it is near breeding time. These fish should be taken care of correctly and be given food just for them. A food that is just for them is zucchini. Do NOT put Plecos in wooden tanks because they will chew into the tank and damage it.
