Principal’s Update
March 7, 2011
Dear Parents,
It’s feeling more and more like Spring every day. Spring sports have started, our Spring musical opens this week, and students are already looking forward to Spring Break. Let’s hope Spring fever doesn’t hit too soon, especially for our seniors who have to make sure they focus through graduation. No word on a date yet, but when I hear something, I’ll be sure to share it with you! Have a great week.
The following news is provided to help keep you informed:
Kudos
Congratulations to David Flyr, Eric Greenlee, Timothy Higgins, Nicole Moy, and Mason Rogers for qualifying for 2011 Carson Scholar recognition. They will be honored at a reception at Martin’s West later this Spring.
Stay tuned for a wrap up of the JV Winter Sports seasons. We’re still compiling all the info of these students’ accomplishments and we’ll share that in next week’s update!
Bullying Resources
Since sending out my letter about our efforts to promote and maintain a safe and nurturing environment at River Hill, I’ve had several inquiries about how students and/or parents can report issues of bullying. Listed below are several resources that Howard County Public Schools have available on its website:
http://www.hcpss.org/board/policies/1060.pdf
http://www.hcpss.org/board/policies/form_bullying.pdf
http://www.hcpss.org/aboutus/pguide_3in1.pdf
I hope these resources provide the answers you need. In addition, your student’s counselor and administrator are also great resources for both information and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Attention Seniors!
If you have not had your Senior picture taken for the yearbook, it's not too late! Please arrange to have your picture done with Lifetouch Studios by March 19th. We are under contract with this company, so you must have your yearbook picture taken by them. Please call 800-445-1189 to schedule your appointment today!
